Welcome Back to HBDA Kapolei!

By Tim Cubero, Jr.

It’s been awhile since we last appeared on the screen! As this new year has already gone more than underway, we hope you have already put on your dancing shoes to get on the dance floor.

What about our dance floor – at Kapolei Elementary School Monday nights
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.!

Our chapter continues with vigor, especially with countless members as new beginners as well as seasoned dancers. We are all so encouraged to find the many, many new faces joining us at the beginning of 2012 which made this new quarter very refreshing – this too with three new dances to learn.

NOW THIS IS WORTH GETTING OUT THE FIREWORKS!

We are half way through this quarter with seasoned instructors Mike Agor and Marcia Sorbo teaching the Samba, Fox Trot and West Coast Swing.

** Start the Firecrackers **
WOW! This is such a good end-of- the year quarter, with 12 new students joining us.
** GET OUT THE SPARKLERS **
Newly elected officers, for 2012-2013

To top this: We are already thinking of what the chapter will present during the Cultural Night in May.
** DRUM ROLL PLEASE **
Filipino folk dances, Japanese Bon dance maybe ?? Even though it is over two months away, time flies and we need to decide soon, as it’s going to be practice, practice, and more practice! And truly, we’ve got a lot of talented folks. So you have to follow us on the web at kapoleihbda.wordpress.com. But Wait! Better Yet! Follow us in person at Kapolei Elementary School. Follow us at Aliamanu Middle School for Saturday Review Nights for current students. And follow us at the Ala Wai Palladium Dance Floor during HBDA-sponsored events! It’s even better to see the following great people in person at all these locations! Again, check our website kapoleihbda.wordpress.com, or call 781-2076 for additional information including class and registration information for the next quarter starting in April.

Leona and President Elect Martin Powell, Gladys and Carl Tronbak.
Thank you to wonderful people who do important work for our chapter. As we are a chapter of an official organization known as the historic Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association (HBDA) duly recognized by the state of Hawaii, our officers’ duties are sacred to our chapter and club’s existence.
Bernie Jay, Lino Mendoza, Nilda and Pete Quindara.
It is so wonderful to continue to see familiar faces who are great friends to Kapolei HBDA. We can always count on them for their friendship and support as we learn how to dance together!
Chapter Treasurer Yvonne Oshiro and “Treasurer-Trainee” Lorna Depew along with Gladys Tronbak and Shauna Jones
We are wonderfully led by additional club administrators. Their taking of time to perform their duties as class instruction begins is much appreciated! To later see them join us on the classroom floor after their duties are completed make the rest of us not as lonely!
Beryl Takabayashi, Lea Buschgans, Lorna Depew and Juny and Nena Laputt.
In the back – Ed and Ruby Espina
This is so much fun! Being able to relax after a class, to share a message of support, and to wait patiently for the next class helps us all to bond more closely! What a family of continuing ballroom dancers!

You can do this with most items on your computer. These social-recreational dancers will be learning more than just dancing.
